Kwara monarchs allege persecution of Saraki

Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari Traditional rulers in Kwara State yesterday threw their weight behind the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, despite his ongoing trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The traditional rulers, led by their chairman and Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu- Gambari, warned against what they called ‘politics of persecution’. They said the trial of Saraki at the CCT was not in line with the change mantra of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nigerians bargained for. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Emir of Ilorin said, “It would be unwise to disguise under political altar to cow perceived political enemy. Tinubu bars pro-Saraki senator from APC caucus meetings

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has barred the lawmaker representing Ondo-Central senatorial district, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, from attending South-West caucus meetings. The senator was reportedly ostracised for allegedly working against the interest of the party’s South-West leadership and for taking sides with Senate President Bukola Saraki. Alasoadura was also among the senators that followed Saraki to the Code of Conduct Tribunal in solidarity on Tuesday.  Punch reports that a reliable source within the party said Alasoadura had been sidelined from all APC South-West meetings for his disloyalty to Tinubu. The source said, “Alasoadura was a Commissioner for Finance under the late Dr. Olusegun Agagu for over five years.
